2016 sees St Andrews host 7 fantastic golf competitions featuring some of the best players in the world competing for honour of being called the best, also they are competing for some wonderful prize pots. The old course is one of the most famous courses in the world and has a wealth of history associated with it, with the players looking to write their very own chapter in that history.
Alfred Dunhill Links Championship – Old Course – 6th October – 9th October 2016
The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship is a prestigious competition which attracts the world’s elite golfers. The championship has a unique format. It incorporates two separate competitions, an individual professional tournament for the world’s leading golfers with a prize fund of $5 million, and a team event competition which features some of the most celebrated amateur golfers playing alongside the professionals.
St Andrews Links Trophy – New & Old Courses – 3rd June – 5th June 2016
The St Andrews Links Trophy has attracted some of the world’s top amateurs since its creation in 1989. With names such as Rory McIlroy, Padraig Harrington and Ernie Els entering the event before going on to their successful professional careers. The (WAGR) ranks the St Andrews Links Trophy as one of the strongest amateur tournaments in the world.
St Andrews Boys Open – Eden Course & Old Course – 1st August – 4th August 2016
The St Andrews Boys Open is an 18 hole qualifying scratch and handicap match play tournament. Entry requirements are for boys under the age of 18 on the 1st January 2016 with a handicap not exceeding 9. There are 150 spaces for the event which has a £30 entry fee and a closing date for entries of Thursday 23rd June 2016.
St Andrews Junior Ladies Open 2016 – Strathtyrum Course, Eden Course & Old Course – 1st August – 4th August 2016
The St Andrews Junior Ladies Open is open to ladies under the age of 23 on the 1st January 2016 with a handicap not exceeding 28, There is also a £30 entry fee and the closing date for entries is Monday 27th June 2016.
Eden Tournament 2016 – Eden & New Courses – 8th August – 12th August 2016
This 36 hole qualifying scratch and handicap match play tournament for male golfers with a handicap not exceeding 15 with an entry fee of £120. Closing date for entries is Monday 29th February 2016. This tournament was first played over 95 years ago and is one of the most important events in the Scottish calendar.
Strathtyrum Tournament 2016 – Strathtyrum Course – 8th August – 12th August 2016
The Strathtyrum Tournament was set up to complement the success of the Eden Tournament and is a 36 hole qualifying scratch and handicap match play tournament for lady golfers with a handicap not exceeding 28, with 102 places available at an entry fee of £120. The closing date for entries is Monday 29th February.
St Rule Trophy – New & Old Courses – 28th May – 29th May 2016
This 54 holes open amateur strokeplay tournament is for lady golfers with a handicap not exceeding 3. The entry fee is £50 and the closing date for entries is Monday 25 April 2016. Some of the top lady amateur golfers from around the world have entered the event with names such as Annika Sorenstam, Catriona Matthew and Melissa Reid.
